Genomic Surveillance of Avian and Human Influenza A Viruses Through Environmental Wastewater Monitoring

Researchers in Ireland conducted a study focusing on the genomic surveillance of avian and human influenza A viruses utilizing the Concentrating Pipette for environmental wastewater monitoring based on "One Health" principles.

Wastewater samples were collected and analyzed for the presence of avian and human influenza A viruses using genomic sequencing techniques. InnovaPrep's Concentrating Pipette offered a streamlined and efficient approach to concentrate viral particles from wastewater.

The data confirmed the method’s effectiveness of this method for both avian and human strains of the virus and highlighted its potential for early detection. By monitoring disease pathogens in wastewater, researchers can glean insights into the circulation and transmission dynamics of these viruses in both animal and human populations.

This "One Health" approach to infectious disease surveillance highlights the value of environmental monitoring as a complement to traditional clinical surveillance methods. InnovaPrep's technology plays a pivotal role in facilitating efficient sample processing, thereby advancing genomic surveillance efforts across human and animal populations.
